DUST JACKET: the decorative paper covering
of a book's binding
VERY FINE: as new
FINE: book appears to have been read,
but with minimal evidence; dust jacket may have lost some sheen; with no
tears or chips
VERY GOOD: book shows obvious
evidence of having been read; dust jacket may be faded and with a tear
and/ or chip
GOOD: book is largely intact (no
pages missing), but with compromised binding; dust jacket may have
large tears, chips and/ or stains
LIBRARY MARKINGS: book and dust
jacket may have been stamped, taped, or with glue as on ex-library books
