MINA HARADA EIMON (author and illustrator of picture book Why Cats Chase Mice) was born in Tokyo, Japan. She spent part of he childhood and adolescence in Poland and Singapore. She received her B.A. degrees in Visual Arts and Comparative Literature from Brown University and has also studied illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design. Prior to working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer, Mina taught art to elementary school children. During that time, she became interested in passing down folk traditions to the younger generation. Mina, her husband, and their children currently live in Burlingame, California, with their cat who has yet to catch his first mouse.
