Christy Hale has illustrated numerous award-winning books for children, including Elizabeti’s Doll (Lee & Low Books), an ALA Notable Book that Publisher’s Weekly called “ A slice of perfection” in a starred review. Hale made her debut as a picture book author with the publication of The East-West House: Noguchi’s Childhood in Japan. The lyrical text and mixed-media collage introduce readers to Isamu Noguchi, the 20th-century sculptor and designer. The East-West House was a Kirkus Best Book of 2009.
Christy Hale is also an art educator. She has introduced young readers to the lives and works of many artists through Instructor magazine’s Masterpiece of the Month feature and accompanying workshops.
